Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation

Areas of Giving

Although the Foundation would like to respond affirmatively to all requests coming to the Foundation, we receive far more proposals than can possibly be funded. As a result, the Foundation has determined it necessary to establish priorities and guidelines for the use of its relatively limited resources.

Within its general areas of giving, the Foundation has developed a particular interest in programs that enhance the experiences of students in all levels of education, improve access to, availability of and programs for health, medical care and social services, and address community enhancement opportunities, including arts and culture.

Additionally, the Stark Foundation funds only 501(c)(3) public charities and qualified public entities. The Foundation does not lend or grant money to individuals, private foundations or supporting organizations described in 509(a)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, nor does the Foundation make grants for endowment purposes.

Finally, the Foundation’s geographic scope of giving is limited to Southeast Texas, with a preference given to Orange County, Texas.
